    So fast!
My last two irons have been Phillips Azur and I quite like them hence buying two. However they each gave up the ghost after approx 3 yrs so I wanted a change. I chose this iron because I thought the specs were similar (I couldn’t accurately remember them exactly but I had a rough idea) This iron is superior and much cheaper. It is noticeably heavier than the Azur but I think this is an asset. My ironing pile that used to take me about 3hrs to see the back of only took me 2 hrs on first use. The steam output, although similar, is much more efficient. It doesn’t stop and start but continuously steams, powerfully, and, coupled with the extra weight, just whizzes through the ironing. I wasn’t expecting an iron that costs so much less to be so efficient so I am delighted with it. It looks good and works brilliantly. If you can tolerate the extra weight then I would certainly recommend it. I have osteoarthritis in all my extremities and the extra weight didn’t bother me much at all. I much preferred having an ironed pile of laundry in two thirds of the time it used to take me. I just hope it lasts longer than the Azur which, in my experience, just dies a sudden and unexpected death at the most in opportune time. I noticed that some reviewers mentioned the lack of an ability to wind the cord. This was not an issue for me as I have an iron storage plate screwed to the back of my storage cupboard door that I use to wind and store it without difficulty. The price is a very welcome bonus, especially so close to Christmas when I don’t enjoy extra or unnecessary expense.

    Very competent iron!
Just the right amount of steam, not too heavy and reasonably priced! It irons well, easy to use, stylish colour and is burn resistant. There are no water leakages at all ! Great iron!

Verdict – What works well and what doesn’t
I’m writing this review after using the iron a few times.. I find it’s best to capture first impressions with items like this as I tend to get used to odd quirks and start to work around themWhat works well# IRONING CAPABILITY – Seems very good – hot temp works well, glides well, notch for use around buttons is useful – initial finish on clothes is good.# WEIGHT – The iron is towards the heavy end of what’s available – I like this! – It sounds as if the weight might require more effort to use, but I actually find having to apply more downward pressure using a light iron harder work than sliding a heavier one from side to side.# SPEED TO HEAT – the 3100W makes a difference – it’s right up to top temp in a matter of seconds – this works well for me as the thing I iron most of are cotton shirts .. I actually iron very little on a low setting.# STEAM – This feature works well – but it’s not a big one for me. As mentioned on the box when it arrives the iron will have a little water residue in it where the steam / spray function has been tested. I actually prefer to use a separate water spray bottle as in the past I’ve found water reservoirs eventually get a bit grubby and will occasionally leave a spot on a shirt (always at the end when you’ve ironed the whole thing!) I prefer to keep the iron clean and dry and apply water as I go using a simple garden spray bottle. What could be better# HANDLE – While this is ok I did find the steam buttons at the front of the handle got in the way a little – not to the point where it was a real problem, but it just made the handle a little less comfortable than it could have been# COILING CABLE – This is a little annoying – there is nowhere to coil the cable around the iron after use – having said that I often leave mine out in a spare room.. but not great if you need the space and want to keep it out the way – also think irons left out are extremely dangerous re small kids or pets .. so ability to coil the cable would be useful.OVERALLI like it so far – it feels substantial heats up quickly and irons well.

Fantastic ” dark vader” iron. Steam is the most powerful ever.
HelloNow I’ve been reading many reviews in regards to this product and it was very interesting to get quite contrasting information from both sides of the extreme polarities.Firstly it is normal for the water tank to have condensation with quite a few people were rather concerned they said you to the testing that is done by all branded irons, not just by this company but also by others as well. Let me reassure you that you don’t need to return or to think it’s second-hand.Then quite a few people raise concerns of what they saw was apparent limescale between the the iron plate and the plastic body. Fret not please for this is just residue from the manufacturer of the product and when you first use it as recommended on an old piece of fabric you will see this will dissipate away.A few people also raised concerns about the location of the cord at the top and this is absolutely normal as it is on my old irons there is no concern of issue of this location at all and it does not get in the way 99% of the time. Then quite a few people have criticised the apparent distance between the dial to the handle where you grab around it and actually I find the gap is wider compared to the other brands for example my old one is a Philips azur and that was actually a lesser gap this one is absolutely fine and I don’t see any issue person and my hand size is large. Now when it comes to the glide performance I personally have found it far superior to the Philips azur and it will glide on a single layer fabric with no problem However if you will naturally do it on for example a shirt or trouser over the pocket or buttons yes it will the slide not so well because of the natural friction from the garment underneathNow a few people have raised concerns about it being a heavy iron when actually I found it lighter compared to the Philips azur and I’ve had that for several years until it is now now.The cord quality is no difference to the Philips azur and so one person said that they have problems I’m sure they must have burnt it because it’s a very sturdy 3 m cord and it’s really great.Yes it’s regrettable one cannot coil it around the iron. Myself with this and all irons i just place it back in the box for storage with the box flaps folded inwardsNow I come to the non drip which I personally find just like in other branded irobs is a fad and false and never works with the steam on there is always some water dripping be it from either Tefal or Phillips or even this Russell Hobbs they all drip some water despite the claim that there is non drip I find this unfortunately not to be the case but if someone can please enlighten me how to avoid this happening then please do let me know however it should be automatically non-drip and I put the steam on 25 to 50% only.I must say to concur with many others at the age is in the the dark Vader and when you press the steam button it’s about to fly off into space it’s very powerful steam the most powerful I’ve ever seen compared to the other branded companies and I’m very impressed. However I tried to do vertical steam on my trousers and I didn’t really see much of an effect and I will try this on my shirt however I don’t see any point to do it because I will just use it on the typical iron board anyway. It heats up so fast from cokd in a literal matter of few seconds! And the water is not used up so fast.My advice is to use the self clean button each time as UK water is very hard so to prolong the life of the iron please. And lastly some people are claiming they can’t see the water level I find this very interesting and maybe they need to go to Specsavers because I see no issue at all to see the water level totally clearly which you can see when it is up dried or when your ironing that there is water in there through the see-through clear plastic which isn’t blackAt £32 it’s s good value iron . I’m ironing much faster with this to my previous iron and buggy he’s been to refill the water tank to beforehand. It will be a test of time to see how long it lasts and please do not forget to register on the website to get the 1-year extra and so in total 3 years warranty with the company.I shall endeavour to update in due course if there is anything further to add.
